Linesmith

Changelog

0.4.7 · 7 November 2026

The game is now called Linesmith, at playlinesmith.com.

0.4.6 · 7 November 2026

With a mouse, the first time you zoom in a tip shows how to move the map: right-drag, or press H.
Hover or tap a stop and its walking range is drawn in its line's colour, as it is while you draw. A stop several lines share keeps the blue.

0.4.5 · 7 November 2026

Practice ends after the Depot step: the clock stops, and you choose to go back to your city or keep practising. The clock says Practice the whole time, so it's never mistaken for your run.
In the cities menu, a city you're practising in opens your saved run.
Menus opened over the Depot pause the city again, so rain and wind fade out.
A paused game is quiet: no ticking rings or horns till you play again.

0.4.4 · 7 November 2026

How to play opens a practice city: a fresh Budapest where the steps show at once. Your own run is saved and waits, and nothing in practice is kept.
Settings that are on or off are switches now, like Colour-blind lines and the city picture in Feedback.
Feedback, About and Delete match the rest of the game, and small buttons are easier to tap on a phone.
Switching cities no longer leaves the screen in night colours by day.

0.4.3 · 7 November 2026

The opening screen sits on the same frosted glass as the menus, and Play glides smoothly out to the whole city.
Settings is in the top corner of every menu, next to sound and music.
The loading screen keeps the bus, so nothing jumps when the game opens.
Buttons look the same everywhere: the main one green, each with its icon.

0.4.2 · 7 November 2026

Opening another city no longer reloads the game: the music carries on into the new city's.
Each city in the menu shows its own time of day.

0.4.1 · 7 November 2026

A new cities menu: each city in a card with its map, its colour filling the frame as you carry riders, and a lock on cities still to come.
Opening a city: the one you're in comes into focus behind the glass; another arrives with its name and a line about its metro.
One calm loading screen, by day or by night.
The share card puts your map and your score first.
Esc backs out one step on every screen.

0.4.0 · 6 November 2026

Three new cities on the tour: Paris, Seoul and Bangkok, each with its own music.
New landmarks for Dhaka, Paris and Seoul, and every city its own colour.
A new share card: your city's card with your map on it, by day or by night.
The end of a run is simpler: one Share, and nothing behind your result.
Quieter: weather and growing buildings are told the first three times; a new district's name appears on the land itself.
The Depot's contractors say plainly how much they add, and why.
Tips on the map never take your tap, and the markers at the screen's edge are one kind and keep clear of everything.
A cleared city says so in the menu.

0.3.2 · 6 November 2026

Smooth while anything moves, up to your screen's full rate, and much lighter on the battery when paused or in the menu.
The icon in the browser tab is centred and crisp.
One word for each idea: riders carried, everywhere. Messages are shorter and calmer.
The Depot's Bridge and New metro line say what they give, and cash reads 2,455 as it does at the top.
Budapest's metro fact is right: the first electric underground on the European mainland.
The privacy page lists everything the game keeps on your device.

0.3.1 · 5 November 2026

The faint line that shows where to drag is the colour of the line you are drawing: your own line's colour when you extend it.
Pausing the game pauses the hints too.
Missed the traffic jam tip? It comes back in your next runs. Tap its words to put it away for good.
Weather news comes first; the city cleared message waits its turn instead of covering it.

0.3.0 · 5 November 2026

A first game starts quiet: just the city. The controls come in one at a time, as you need them.
Nothing to read to learn the game. Wait a moment and a faint line draws the route to drag, or a press shows what to tap. A few words appear only if you stay stuck.
Tips never stop the game, and there is no Got it to tap.
The first car and the first traffic jam say what they mean right where they happen.
When the metro arrives, the Depot shows you where to buy a Metro Line.
Opening the Depot closes the line you were editing, and picking Bus or Metro closes the Depot.
Play and Continue ease out to the city smoothly, without a jolt.
Rivers and coasts run exactly along the roads' directions in every city.
The vehicle picker counts your spare buses and carriages.

0.2.6 · 4 November 2026

The music starts when you start playing, not on the first tap of the title screen. The title screen and menu are quiet.

0.2.5 · 4 November 2026

The home-screen icon is centred and crisp on iPhone.

0.2.4 · 4 November 2026

Colour-blind lines in Settings: six line colours that stay apart under any kind of colour blindness. Metro lines are easier to tell apart at night.
City cards show each city as you'll play it, in the new map look.
The menu is a menu: Back to the city returns you as you left it, and Pause in the bar is the one pause.
The loading bar fills like a city card's, and the loading and start screens sit in the middle of the screen.
A new app icon: the bus, on the home screen and in the browser tab. About is tidier too.

0.2.3 · 4 November 2026

The line switch in the edit bar is the same size as its buttons again, with the same even spacing.

0.2.2 · 4 November 2026

A selected line’s colour sits neatly in its switch again, on phones and tablets too.

0.2.1 · 4 November 2026

Busy cities run smoother, on phones above all: no more stutter as new roads appear, and a long game no longer slows down as it goes.

0.2.0 · 4 November 2026

Every city redrawn from its real map: Budapest's Danube, the Klang and Gombak meeting in Kuala Lumpur, Istanbul's Bosphorus and Golden Horn, the Thames, the Nile through Cairo, Hong Kong's harbour and Dhaka's rivers, with their parks and districts where they really are.
A new look for the map: coasts and parks in clean straight runs along the streets, ponds and small greens as simple rounded shapes.
Offices and shops stand on a paved plot, as homes stand in their yards.
By night, walkways and plots darken with the city.
Street trees keep clear of district names.
A run saved on an old drawing of a city starts fresh on the new one.

0.1.16 · 3 November 2026

A new world map: each city is a travelcard in its own colour, with its landmark beside its name. Swipe or tap between them.
A card shows a picture of your own best run in that city, taken as you play, and a soft bar with a rider walking to how many people you've carried. Cities you haven't played show their rivers; locked ones are blank until you earn them.
Picking a city fades into it. Switching cities keeps the run you leave: it's saved and waits for you.
The menu button and Esc open the menu: Back to the city, Restart the city, All cities and Settings, with sound and music to hand.
Settings gathers How to play, the 12h/24h clock, feedback and About in one place.
Buttons, cards and spacing across the game are tidied onto one consistent scale.

0.1.15 · 3 November 2026

Your run is saved as you play: close the tab by accident and the next visit picks it up where you left off, with Continue on the launch screen. Each city keeps its own.
A launch screen: Wayfare's name and one Play button over the city itself, which eases out to the whole map as you start.
The loading screen runs straight into it, a bus going station to station while the city is traced and named, with a true line about getting around the real city.
Palm trees redrawn: a ringed trunk and broad fronds that droop at the tips.

0.1.14 · 3 November 2026

Cairo's Nile runs straight and broad, with Zamalek and Roda set off by narrow side channels, and splits into the Delta in the north.
Budapest's Danube comes in round the Danube Bend from the north-west.

0.1.13 · 3 November 2026

The city has more room to grow: two more rings of land open on days 6 and 7, so new homes and offices keep arriving for longer, and every office type gets several buildings.
Each city has new named districts at its edges, such as Croydon in London and Békásmegyer in Budapest.
Tapping the map while the Depot is open closes the Depot instead of starting a line.

0.1.12 · 3 November 2026

Dragging a line moves only the stretch between the stops either side, so a small change never redraws the whole line. A tap on a line adds or removes a stop instead of starting a reroute.
While you draw, the preview shows every stop you'll get: the one you dragged where it lands, and a shared stop wherever the line crosses another.
Metro lines run straight even when you draw slowly, instead of following every wobble of your finger.
A station with no room for stairs gets a lift, so stairs never run through tracks or across roads. Paths lead to the lift.
Hover or tap a stop's white dot to see that stop. A tap there never extends the line.
Door chimes are part of the music: the Music switch mutes them.
The bus on the loading screen faces the way it drives.

0.1.11 · 2 November 2026

Clearing a city is a note at the top, and your run goes on. When it ends, the sheet offers On to the next city first, Play again under it.
The end of a run says why and where: a rush that packed a home, a home with no line to where its people work, or a line with too few buses. The camera puts the place in the middle.
Two ways to share: a card with your title (from Bus spotter up to Transit chief), your people and your city, or just the map. Big numbers read 11,332.
A tip the first time waits for you, the game paused, until Got it (or Enter), then doesn't come back. Rush hours and the weather never pause the game.
A tip shows its place: the car outlined, the jam brought into view with buildings and viaducts in front of it faded.
Metro lines are a shade deeper than bus lines of their colour by day, and lighter at night, so the two never read as one.
On a phone the tool bar fits the screen, and Bus and Metro never look switched off.

0.1.10 · 2 November 2026

A full home's windows stay lit through the night instead of flashing on and off as people come and go.

0.1.9 · 2 November 2026

A calmer city zoomed out: a stop is a white dot on its road, and riders only show where something needs doing. Zoom in for every sign and queue.
A crowd running out of room has its countdown round its riders, on top of everything, and rings at most 3 places they could go.
Buildings settle two tiles apart, so districts have room to breathe.
A rush shows the company's own sign, at the top and in the clock.
Your first car and your first jam say what they mean, and the Road card says more road brings more cars.
Simpler signs for business (a briefcase), logistics (a truck) and legal (a courthouse).
Trains stay solid when the track under them fades, walkways show on every city, and on a phone the clock makes room for long numbers.

0.1.8 · 1 November 2026

A bus line's paint stops at a side road it doesn't take and closes into a corner there, instead of running across the side road.
The lift at a metro crossing stands beside a road under the station, not on it, and buses pass behind it.

0.1.7 · 1 November 2026

Riders take the bus or train in front of them when it gets them there as soon as waiting for their own would. A crowd no longer watches trains pass by.
A crowd that keeps growing rings the nearest 3 places its riders can go, even when they have a route, so you see where another line would take them.
A full home lights all its windows, and says Full when riders heading home pass it by.
The first red ring's tip waits till the crowd is lasting, not a bus a few seconds late, says what to do, and points at the ring itself.
Drawing a new line with no bus or train to put on it says so, and the Depot shakes.

0.1.6 · 1 November 2026

Weather news shows at the top, under the clock, every time, with the weather's own icon.
Tap the clock while the weather is on to read it again. A tap on its icon works too.

0.1.5 · 1 November 2026

A 12h/24h button in the menu: the clock and every time in the game read 8:30 am or 08:30. It starts as your device does.
The Depot has its cards from the start of a run, instead of opening empty until the clock started.

0.1.4 · 1 November 2026

The Depot says what each thing is for: Road and Metro track build lines, and New bus line and New metro line add a line.
Metro lines have their own icon, two rails, so they tell apart from bus lines in the Depot and on the map.
Each Depot card says how many you have, and the row of counters you could mistake for buttons is gone.
On a short phone the Depot stays below the top bar and its cards scroll.

0.1.3 · 1 November 2026

Dragging a line back across itself says how to make a loop instead: join its two ends.
In your first few cities a dashed line runs from a home with no bus to where its riders want to go, in the next line's colour.

0.1.2 · 1 November 2026

Loops: drag a bus or metro line back onto its first stop and it closes into a loop. Its vehicles go round, every other one the other way. Drag out of the loop's first stop to open it and extend it.
An Erase tool (3): drag it across a line to cut it there. At an end the line gets shorter, in the middle it splits in two, and a loop opens. The pieces come back, and Undo puts the last cut back.
Bus roads go diagonal too, so a slanted drag is one slanted road instead of stairs.
The sign of a stop you're about to add shows faded until you tap.
Bus stop signs stand beside the path to a house instead of on it.

0.1.1 · 1 November 2026

A loading screen: a bus rides its line while the city is laid out, instead of a blank page.
Hover a selected line to add a stop and you see its sign where it would stand, and a tick on each house and office it would reach.
While you draw a line, the same ticks show which buildings its stops will reach, and which they miss.

0.1.0 · 1 November 2026

Feedback, on the world map: write what happened and send it with a picture of the city. If the game breaks, it offers to send a report.
A start screen: the world map, each city a small model of itself on one line. Swipe, use the arrows or tap a city to pick it.
A tour of seven cities. Carry a city’s goal to clear it and open the next; a toast tells you and the game goes on until a stop overflows.
First time in Budapest, five guided steps show you how to play. Skip passes one step; How to play replays them.
Lessons when they matter, at the top where nothing covers them: a jam, a red ring and a building kept low point at their place; the first time contractors raise prices, what drives it.
Once the city grows, a tip shows how to zoom, then (with a mouse) how to grab and move the map with H; each stays until you’ve done it.
Esc or the menu button opens the map and pauses the game; Esc again goes back.
The tab icon has rounded corners. About, with credits, this changelog and a privacy page.

31 October 2026

The game is called Wayfare.
A line you draw snaps onto a stop or station it nearly reaches, so lines meet and riders can change.
Weather in every city at the hours it really comes: Budapest’s dawn snow, Kuala Lumpur’s afternoon storms. Buses slow in it; the metro doesn’t.
Quieter, sparser music under the sound effects.
2x speed is back (F).
Smoother on phones.

30 October 2026

Six more cities after Budapest: Kuala Lumpur, Istanbul, London, Cairo, Hong Kong and Dhaka, each with its own river, colours, trees and music.
Rivers, straits and lakes carry their names.
Night is the city’s own colours by moonlight.
Sound: traffic, lines and a song per city.
Traffic jams slow cars to a crawl instead of locking up.
Carriages: drop one on a metro line to lengthen its train.
Depot prices follow your fares and the cash you hold.
